Make the most out of your job search. Here are helpful tips and insight to help you navigate our employment process.
- Use the electronic application to apply for jobs.
Computers are available for use outside of the UNLV employment office. If you are unable to apply electronically, call us at 702-895-2894 or e-mail classified.recruitment@unlv.edu.
- Read the job announcement.
Please read the job announcement thoroughly before applying. Research what the job entails and make sure that you have the minimum qualifications.
- Keep your user ID and password information in a safe place.
In NVAPPS, once you submit your materials, you can re-enter this site with your user ID and password and make changes or corrections to your information. You may use the same log-in information to apply for multiple positions.
- Pay attention to the closing date on the job announcement.
Please be aware of the closing date on a job announcement. Complete applications with required documents attached must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the closing date or they will not be considered.
- Submit all required documents.
Required documents can be either Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat files. The file names must have either a .doc or a .pdf extension.
If requested, send a cover letter along with your resume. A cover letter is an introduction letter that states your interest in the university. It can highlight your accomplishments and knowledge of the university. A cover letter should be concise and speak directly to the job qualifications.
- Set aside time to complete your profile.
Completing a profile in NVAPPS takes approximately one to two hours. After the profile is complete and all information is saved, applying for positions takes very little time.
- Provide good contact information.
Provide the best phone number and e-mail address that we can use to contact you concerning the status of your application.
